Hello, my name is John Lamonica,

Thank you for visiting my website and viewing my photos.

I have been taking pictures since high school. I love shooting sports, especially sports that I play and understand. I had the good fortune to have studied and become friends with Sports Illustrated photographer Robert Riger. Robert fueled my passion and helped refine my techniques.

Since I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu over 15 years ago, I have been able to merge two passions, BJJ and PHOTOGRAPHY. I have been lucky to be a photographer for the primer BJJ magazine in the world, the "National Geographic of BJJ" Gracie Magazine.

I want to thank the guys at Gracie Magazine, Luca, Ivan, and Marcelo, for giving me the opportunity to shoot this beautiful sport. I also want to thank Natasha at IBJJF for providing me the photo passes to the tournaments. Along with sports photography, I love taking pictures of people, architecture, cars, trains, and subways. I hope you will enjoy viewing my photos as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
